Aram Asatryan was born in Vagharshapat, in a family of peasants who fled from Western Armenia.

He started playing music as a child, but became famous in the mid-1980s. In 1985, together with Levn Abrahamyan, Khachik Sahakyan, Spuren Gasparyan and Sympn Sispyan, he created the sepsh kan group. He sang patriotic and love songs for the veterans of the Artsakhian war.

He performed in Asia, Europe, Russia, USA and Arab countries. He is the author of more than 500 songs.

In 2003, the RA Minister of Culture awarded Aram Asatryan with the honorary title «Gpusan». Aram Asatryan died on November 7, 2006 after being shot.

In 2013, the tomb of Aram Asatryan was opened in Vagharshapat, where many awards and certificates of the musician and things belonging to him are displayed.
