Attention: All schools will be closed

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Artsakh informs that from Azerbaijan to Armenia

Due to the failure of gas supply and energy supply to Artsakh, since yesterday, January 19, the classes of preschool groups of public educational institutions, grades 1-12 and primary (vocational) and secondary professional educational institutions have been temporarily suspended.

In total, the work of 117 schools was stopped. As a result, almost 20,000 children are deprived of the opportunity to receive education. The updated statistics of the 40th day of the blockade of Artsakh are published in the Artsakh government bulletin.

9 children are in the neonatal and intensive care units of the children’s hospital. 9 adult patients are in the intensive care unit, 4 of them are in critical condition. 154 children have already been born in the blockade. Due to the suspension of planned operations in all medical facilities operating under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Artsakh, 460 citizen was deprived of the opportunity to solve health problems through surgery.

Until today, 36 patients were transferred from Artsakh to Armenia with the mediation and accompaniment of the International Committee of the Red Cross. Due to the difficult economic situation, at least 4,100 people lost their jobs and source of income.

More than 15,600 tons of vital goods would have been delivered to Artsakh had it not been for the blockade, during which only a small part was delivered by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Russian peacekeeping forces.

The agents of the Azerbaijani government have been holding the 120,000 people of Artsakh hostage under siege conditions for 40 days. 41 kindergartens, 56 preschool groups have been closed completely or partially since January 9 due to the worsening food shortage.

20 long-day educational institutions. 6,828 children are no longer able to attend kindergarten, preschool and long-day school, being deprived of the opportunity to receive appropriate care, food and education. Since January 18, due to heating and electricity supply problems, the work of all 117 schools in Artsakh has been stopped, depriving almost 20,000 children of the right to education.
