Born in 1975 on June 1, in the city of Ijevan. Graduated from Ijevan secondary school No. 1. 1991-95.

studied at Yerevan State University. In his fifth year of graduation, he was expelled from YSU for political reasons.

He has been engaged in active journalism since 1992. He worked in «Dprutyun», «Hayastan», «Lagir», «Lagir Or», «Molorak» newspapers. In 1998, he founded the «Oragir» daily newspaper, which in 1999 was closed by a court order for political reasons. In 1999, he was appointed the editor-in-chief of «Haykakan Zhamanak» daily, and held that position until 2012.

In August 1999, he was sentenced to one year in prison for political reasons. Later, at the request of the international and Armenian journalistic community, the appellate court postponed the execution of the imprisonment for one year, as a result of which the imprisonment was not carried out.

In 2007, he was a founding member of the «Alternative» public-political union. In the parliamentary elections of 2007, he was number one on the proportional list of the «Impeachment» bloc, in 2008 in the presidential elections, a member of the pre-election staff of RA presidential candidate Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
